Greet the Examiner

Sanitize your hands

Introduce yourself to the examiner and Patient

Inspect around for any clues

Check if the patients restless, thin, sweaty, look at hair for hair loss.

Check For Any Increase Sweatiness, Check For Tremor, Check Thyroid Acrophacy, Check Pulse, Collapsing Pulse, And Palmar Erythema.

Offer BP (Diastolic Hypertension)

Check for swelling, ask patient to get a sip a glass of water and check the movement, go behind and ask patient to swallow some water hold and keep your hands on the sides and feel the gland, check for nodularity, check for any tenderness, warmth, is it diffuse, also auscultate the gland and check for other lymph nodes elsewhere.

Observe for eye signs of thyroid disease (explained in identifying physical signs column), check visual aquity, visual field, RAPD, colour vision and eye movements

Facial swelling, tongue enlargement,

Palpate trachea and percuss over sternum to check for any Retrosternal extension

Look at shins for rash/oedema. Ask to Stand from sitting (proximal myopathy).
Reflexes (slow to relax)
